Voice Attack issues
« on: March 11, 2022, 12:42:29 AM »
Latest version of Voice Attack takes 5 minutes to load and once it does it lags a lot. Spoken commands either never get registered / recognized or they finally do like 3 -4 minutes later making the mess outta any decent gameplay.

PTT hotkey never worked as it should (user has to repeat command for like 10 times in a row hoping somethinžg should happen but if it doesn't you gotta flick the mic off and back on to reset VA listening).

Restarting VA is required every ~10 minutes because it probably goes asleep and stops listenng to microphone commands.

I've been using VA for over a year now and it's very buggy for a payware app.

Hi, there -   It sounds like you've got an issue with the speech engine on your machine.  Would you mind taking a look at this thread? (it's solved many mysteries over the years in regards to the speech engine - ignore the title):   https://forum.voiceattack.com/smf/index.php?topic=64.0

What happens is that your speech engine can get out of sorts - this could be from ambient noise or other issues.  Let me know how that goes, and we'll proceed from there.  Once we can get your speech recognition in line, we'll tackle the PTT issue you are having.

Further reading if you want to dig more into speech engine problems (this thread has helped many over the years to fix various speech engine problems): https://forum.voiceattack.com/smf/index.php?topic=1635.0

Hope something in there helps!

Another question for you, Crunch-Z8 -   Do you have any third-party packs or plugins that are loaded when VoiceAttack is launched?  The reason I ask is because there's not a whole lot going on when VA is launched by itself (it should take only a short amount of time), unless there is a pack/plugin that is being loaded at the same time.

You can find out if plugins are loading by going into Options > General tab, and then verifying if 'Enable Plugins' is checked.  If that is checked, click on, 'Plugin Manager' to see what plugins are being loaded at startup.

If there are no plugins loading, the long startup time *could* be related to the speech engine - hoping the fix from the previous thread solves all of this (waiting to see if that's helped or not).
