Something that I've noticed that happens every now and then is that the speech engine just stops working for whatever reason... corrupt files, bad adaptive recognition, gremlins, etc.

One thing I have suggested to a few users that seems to work is to create a new Windows speech profile and set it to be the default profile.

To create a new, default speech profile, just do the following :

1. Go to the Windows Control Panel and open the Speech Recognition applet.

To more easily access this applet, open the VoiceAttack options window

Then click the "Utilities >" button on the "Recognition" tab, and choose "Speech Control Panel"

2. Next, click on the, 'Advanced speech options' link.

3. Click, the 'New' button over on the right.

4. Name your new profile whatever you want and click, 'OK'

5. This will take you through the setup of the new profile.  Make sure you train up this new profile in a quiet environment, with your mic level set properly.

6. Before you close the dialog, make sure your new profile is selected as the default (as indicated by the check mark).

If this works for you, you can probably dump the old profile.

Hope that helps somebody!
