Voice Attack causes E:D to close

Hi... I used VA a year ago with a voice pack from somewhere and it was working fine.  Then I quit playing for awhile.

i just got back into it and upgraded my VA, purchased the Orion pack from HCS and set it all up and the voice pack works.  I can talk to it and get responses... but when I use it in the game the game client closes.

I said "Launch" and I'm looking at my wallpaper?  Every command I've tried sent the client into an immediate "Alt-Tab" minimization.
