Joystick Option to us Axis as Button Press?
« on: March 08, 2025, 10:48:27 AM »
Hi Folks,

Sorry a two-fer on questions.

Question - I have applications that don't recognize true joystick axis. I typically use a standard Logitech XBox style controller - the actual buttons on the device work fine - however - the joystick axis themselves are unrecognized. Instead of leaving the joysticks unusable for this application - can I convert them to a 4-way button press?

I've had to use a second application to do this for years - "Joy2Key" which works fine - but I'd like to consolidate a profile in Voice Attack to handle all my needs in one place - negating the need for a second program.

Thanks.

Regards,
Scott

Technically it is possible to poll axis positions in a loop, though you'd need to write the logic yourself. However, regarding the button presses, this may be relevant: https://forum.voiceattack.com/smf/index.php?topic=4884.0

Hi...

Happy to see you posting - LOL - I grew a bit concerned when I didn't see your normal 10-minute response time.
 :)

Thanks a bunch - more trouble than it's worth - I'll just continue to use Joy2Key for the analog sticks.

Be well.

Scott
