red mic icon

my mic works ok in other programs, sound recorder ect, but even after re installing, VA has the red mic on it, i have been thru all the mic settings, but it's always there, would it still work like this, it doesn't seem to hear me.
I have a asus tuf laptop, with built in mic (realtek).

Have you tried enabling the "Disable Acoustic Echo Cancellation (could help with recognition)" option?
