Are 'Sound Effects'/'Effect Sets' on an internal audio loopback?

Because they seem to activate the audio bar at the bottom of the main window.
Even when the microphone is disabled.

Create a say command without sound effects.
Duplicate it and add an Effect Set. I use one with a default reverb added.

Mute your speaker.
Mute your microphone.

Play the first command and observe no audio bar movement.
Play the second command and observe the audio bar registering.

Is it just me?

That's not something I can replicate on my machine.

What is the "Windows Speech Recording Device" option on the "Recognition" tab of the VoiceAttack options window set to?
