Voice commands not working in game
« on: July 08, 2016, 02:56:08 PM »
Hi

I have just downloaded and installed Voice Attack and am attempting to create some voice commands for DCS. I have reviewed the relevant sections of the manual and looked a some YT clips that describe what I want to do but I am having a problem with the voice commands being recognized in the game. The program is running in administrator and has no problem recognizing commands like Calculator and close calculator but does not work when I try to use a basic voice command set up for the game.

Another issue is that since I created the first profile for DCS the option to create a new profile is now not available for some reason. I have attached a screen shot that shows the various dialogue screens I am seeing in the hope that some kind soul can spot my obvious mistake and put me back on the path to enlightenment  :)

Make sure you're using the "Windows Game (DirectX)" method to send keys. DCS doesn't recognize "Standard".

since I created the first profile for DCS the option to create a new profile is now not available for some reason.
If you've made this observation with the same windows open as in the screenshot(which is a PDF for some reason), it's because you have the "Edit a Profile"(and "Edit a Command") window open.
As in any windows application, if there is a child window open, the main window cannot be interacted with. That's not VoiceAttack specific.

As an aside, consider using the beta instead; It has a lot of new features and bugfixes, and the UI has changed slightly(you create new profiles using a button now, not the dropdown).

Thanks, Pfeil.

Also, your process target is set to 'Digital Combat Simulator'.  You may want to just set it to, 'Active Window' and see if that helps any.

Thanks Pfeil and Gary I did as advised and I am now sending commands to the game which is great. Still having issues with the profile pick list though... as soon as I launch Voice Attack the pick list is already inactive. Pfeil you mentioned the beta would be worth trying but on the downloads page it says it has not been released yet... what to do???

Thanks Gary I installed the 1.5.9 version and everything works with the GUI now. I have been able to set up full commands without any issue however I have noticed that whenever I add a prefix to a command it then fails to recognsise the speech command. As soon as I remove the prefix the command works again which is unexpected. It has not stopped me doing what I wanted to but it would be handy if it worked. I'll keep programming and if anything else does not work correctly I will let you know.

Really appreciate your assistance getting this going for me it is brilliant.. ;D ;D ;D

Are you trying to add a prefix to a non-suffix command? I understand the naming can be deceptive, but as the documentation states:
Quote
Prefixes and suffixes only execute when they are used together in a composite voice command
I.E. the prefix is part one of the command, the suffix is part two. There can only ever be two parts, without anything in-between.
