Random Commands whilst playing Elite Dangerous with HCS Packs
« on: January 27, 2019, 07:39:36 AM »
Hi guys,

I have been using voice attack and the HCS voice packs for some time (over 3 years) and have had no problems with it.

Recently i had a computer crash and had to do a clean install of Windows 10. Ever since then i have had no end of trouble with VA whilst playing in Elite Dangerous.  I get all sorts of random commands like "Change Camera" "Lights On" "Cargo Scoop" and so on.

I am playing in a quiet house (only me here). I have no other sound like music playing in the background etc.  All sound from the game is coming through the headphones.

I am using a Blue Yeti on a boom, but i have also changed the mic to use the built in one on the Oculus Headset. Still the same random commands.

I have trained the windows voice recognition about 5 times going through the chat as it shows on the screen.

Please, am i doing something wrong, the game is quite annoying to play at the moment as these random commands are messing with everything.

I have spoken to the people on discord over at HCS and they said i should adjust the Confidence levels etc until i get to a point where i dont get these randoms, but i have been doing that and it doesnt make any difference.

Surely me doing a clean install can't effect it like this, its as if it is broken or bugged somehow, before the install i never experienced this issue.

Hi, Ozmodion - you've got some line noise going on for sure.  You'll want to take a look at this thread:
https://forum.voiceattack.com/smf/index.php?topic=1635.0

Scroll down to the part labeled, "I'm not saying anything but VoiceAttack keeps hearing things".  You're not going to be able to detect it, but the speech engine is picking something up.  VA doesn't just randomly start executing commands (unless of course you have a command that randomly executes commands lol).  I'd start by trying a different mic/headset (a wired usb one if you have it).
