Is there a way for VA to recognize that I am taking dmg to my front shields, then do a command? I'd like to eventually replace the default Star Citizen computer program with VA.

That would be really cool.  Unfortunately there is no way to do that, unless the game gives up that type of information for VoiceAttack (or other application) to read.  Which as I understand it does not at this time.  Elite Dangerous does to a degree through journal logs (that can be read), but that is not something that Star Citizen does (I think).

Gary is right.

The SC devs have said that they are going to create an API to allow 3rd party tools to interact with the game client, including getting the status of shields, engines etc.

It was one of the early stretch goals.

So eventually is the likely answer.
