Speech recognition not working

Hi

VoiceAttack stopped working and when I go to Speech Recognition I get only this. What do I have to do to get it working again? (Windows 11)

P.S. I tried to set up Voice Access but it doesn't show up in VoiceAttack.

That message should accompany the Windows Speech Recognition application, I.E. it does not prevent that application from starting/working.

Microsoft has not removed the components required for VoiceAttack to work (nor should it in the future; only the Windows Speech Recognition application is being removed, not the underlying speech recognition system).

"Voice Access" is not relevant to VoiceAttack; it is not used or required.


If you're only seeing that message, but not the Windows Speech Recognition interface (which would normally be the small Vista-style widget at the top of the screen), something isn't working correctly on your machine.

When you attempt to start VoiceAttack, are there any error messages?

Is there a VoiceAttackFault.txt file in VoiceAttack's installation directory?

After a lot of testing I found out that it was actually an Oculus update (I'm using my headset mic for this) that had **cked up the headset microphone for reason or another. Seeing this message same time from speech recognition led me to a wrong track. My bad.

It's working now and speech recognition wasn't at fault.

I'm interested though what will happen if they remove it in future update as it says?

Only the Windows Speech Recognition application is being removed by Microsoft, not the underlying components that VoiceAttack uses.
