VA changing windows mike volume setting when loading
« on: March 19, 2021, 10:34:02 AM »
Is there a way to stop Va from changing the windows 10 mic input volume. I have the setting set to 80% but when VA is loaded it changes it to 100% every time. The only way to get it to not do that is to use windows mic set up and almost yell into the mic to get it to a lower percentage, and then va does not change that setting. Clearly I am missing something here.

The speech recognition engine alters the microphone volume based on the volume it detected during the microphone setup. This is not VoiceAttack-specific.

The "Prevent Speech Engine From Changing Microphone Volume" option on the "System / Advanced" tab of the VoiceAttack options window can disable that behavior.

Note that this changes a Windows setting that will affect the speech recognition engine in any applications that utilize it.

Also note that for speech recognition, specifically, 100% volume is not necessary the best setting.
