Use commands from a backed-up version of VA
« on: April 21, 2020, 06:18:13 PM »
I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Voice Attack.  I don't have an export of my commands, but I do have a full hard drive backup.

I wonder if I could restore my previous VA commands by just copying some files from my previous installation to the new one?  If that's not possible, what would you recommend I do here?  Thanks.

The profile database (VoiceAttack.dat) can be found in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\VoiceAttack". You should be able to copy it over to the equivalent folder on your new machine (while VoiceAttack isn't running) to regain access to the profiles stored in it.

Note that you may need to enable the visibility of hidden files in Windows, and you may be prompted to take ownership of the folder.

Thanks so much, that was just the info I was looking (hoping) for.  I copied this file over and it worked perfectly.
