Make VA follow Windows Scaling options.
« on: May 25, 2016, 05:52:12 PM »
Just upgraded my display to 4k, and VoiceAttack is one of those programs that doesn't follow the text scaling option on Win10.  On my 55" 4k display, I have to get 3" from the screen to read the text, because it's so small.

There is an option in windows 10 to set your scaling. (for 4k, mine's set at 300%)  This makes the fonts of desktop apps appear "normal" sized to you can see what you're doing.  Most programs follow this fine, VA is one of those that doesn't.

As-is, I literally have to change my display to 1080p just to work in VA, then flip back to 4k.

My request is to make VA follow windows scaling options.

Thanks!

Yeah... VA was started in like 2007 when the resolutions weren't extreme.  There's a WPF version of VA on the books, but that will be a bit before that can come out.  For now, there is beta:  http://www.voiceattack.com/beta which has some size options to choose from which will help you not have to switch resolutions.

Question... is VA blury on your 4k monitor?  I'm running 4k and, although it's small, it's still clear (I wouldn't be *required* to change resolution).

Hope that helps some!

Like Gary just suggested, try the beta... the 'Largest' size option in the Settings window should be pretty readable without having you to change resolution

I'm having a hard time taking my hands off the wheel to fully build the WPF version of VA at the moment.  The sizing options are a stopgap until I can do so.  Although higher resolution monitor use is on the rise, there are relatively very few that are actually using 4k monitors just yet, so, a WPF-necessary version of VA will likely roll out when the time is right.

Just installed the BETA and WOW what a difference. I can now see what I'm typing.

Thanks for the update.
