Best Settings
« on: October 07, 2016, 12:21:32 PM »
I use VA primarily for flight simulations. I have my audio setup via the sim to put all sound except voice through a 5.1 speaker system and voice goes to the Rift headset. I trained the speech engine in a quite environment. My question is since I always have engine and sometimes weapons sounds in my environment, should I disable Adaptive Recognition and Acoustic Echo Cancellation.
I know one answer is try it and see what works best, but I am asking from a theoretical point of view as to what Should work the best.

Thanks
Terry

Let me try this question another way and maybe someone can help.
I have trained the speech engine extensively and when first used it is close to 100%, but overtime it seems to degrade.
If I have Disable Adaptive Recognition unchecked (i.e. On) and I have a noisy environment as described in my first post, will this modify my Recognition Profile selected in Speech Properties? Could it degrade the Profile? If so is there a way to get the original back?

Thanks
Terry

Apparently, this is something that might happen over time:

Thank you for the response. I have set up a new profile. I guess it will take Gary to tell us if that setting will also degrade the profile.

Ummm...I have NO idea how/why I read that you were having problems with your voice engine.  :-[

I disabled Adaptive Recognition since, like you, I'm in a 5.1 system with a beefy amplifier and I have alot of explosions and background noise.  It's working well for me.

Sorry for the confusion.

No problem. I appreciate the help. I am trying to determine if that setting just affects the commands being said while it is enabled or if it has a lasting effect on the profile.

Thanks
