So, after setting the clipboard to dictation, i'm unable to actually get it to paste via executing ctrl+v after i have said what i want - why can't i?

That depends... what are you doing to set the dictation buffer to the clipboard?  What you should be doing is putting in a token:

{DICTATION}

The token gets replaced by what is in the dictation buffer.  You can also test what is in the dictation buffer by putting the same {DICTATION} token in the Write To Log action.

I'm using the Set Clipboard function of VoiceAttack and using the {DICTATION} token, but that seems to not be working.

Which version of VoiceAttack are you using?

When you're dictating, do you see a "Append Dictation Buffer" message in the log?

same question here: i can't get Ctrl+V to paste to any program.

i know the dictation buffer is being appended because i used Quick Input and the {DICTATION} text gets typed out.  but i'd rather be able to use the window's Paste clipboard function.

I set {DICTATION} to clipboard, and whenever I have voiceattack press Ctrl+V, it seems to lose focus on the active window, maybe that's part of the issue?

Check the settings for the following:
  • The "Send commands to :" dropdown on VoiceAttack's main window
  • The "Send commands to" checkbox and dropdown in the profile options menu
  • The "Send this command to" checkbox and dropdown in the "Edit a Command" window"
  • The "Perform a Window Function" action with the "Set command to target this window" checkbox checked
Are any of those enabled/not set to "Active Window"?
