[SOLVED] Push to Listen Elite Dangerous Singularity

I have the Eden Voice pack from HCS for Elite Dangerous.

I want VA to listen while I press and hold a joystick button and not listen while I'm not holding the button down.

There seems to be built in functionality for this.  Getting it working is escaping me. 

Can someone please, in no uncertain layman's terms, explain how to get this working?

I kept pushing my hotas button waiting for the red circle and slash to go away from the listening icon.  I'm not a big console player...  I didn't notice the game pad 3 icons below about 1 inch had the red circle and slash.  I clicked the game pad to enable joystick.  Now seems to work as advertised.
