Star Citizen taking control of my mic
« on: April 09, 2023, 12:48:19 PM »
I open VA, then start opening SC, somewhere in there VA no longer hears my audio because SC has taken it over and I get that red mic. How can this be fixed please?

Click the wrench icon on VoiceAttack's main window, and on the "General" tab of the VoiceAttack options window click "System info >", choose "Generate Settings Summary", then "Write to File"; Save the file and attach it to a post here.

From what I can see in the summary, you configuration does appear to be correct.

Do you have any other applications that use your microphone (E.G. Discord)? If so, do they keep working?

I see you're using a Logitech headset, which has in the past been reported to have issues with the microphone cutting out (which was not specific to VoiceAttack).
Make sure you're running the latest version of their software/drivers (assuming they've fixed the issue at this point)

Is there a feature in here that has a timer attached to it so if VA doesn't hear a command it mutes the mic in the program other than the Sleep mode?

Not to my knowledge, no.

The sleep mode should also stop the moment mouse movement or a keystroke is registered.

When the issue occurs, does restarting VoiceAttack make a difference, or does the red microphone icon persist?

If you open the VoiceAttack options window while the red microphone icon is shown, what does the "Windows Speech Recording Device" control on the "Recognition" tab show?

If you hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard and click the wrench icon on VoiceAttack's main window, then on the Windows "Sound" control panel applet double-click the recording device associated with your headset, and navigate to the "Advanced" tab; is the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" option enabled?

If so, does disabling (unchecking) that and clicking "OK" make a difference to the behavior when starting the game?
