Can't edit the profile and crashed.
« on: November 16, 2022, 06:19:23 AM »
About a year ago, I enjoyed using VoiceAttack.
It was good to understand my words and no crash.
I don't know when it occurs but my bluetooth headset can't hear my voice.
Futhermore, these days, I can't edit the command.
When I click the edit icon, the app stops.
I change a mic to a wired one but the recognition is very poor.
All the things are strange and bad now.
Please help.

The Bluetooth headset you're mentioning worked correctly before? What brand and model is it?

Is there a VoiceAttackFault.txt file in VoiceAttack's installation directory? If so, attach it to a post here.

Click the wrench icon on VoiceAttack's main window, and on the "General" tab of the VoiceAttack options window click "System info >", choose "Generate Settings Summary", then "Write to File"; Save the file and attach it here as well.

The only recording device available on your machine is the built-in Realtek sound card stereo mix device, which would repeat the audio normally coming through your speakers/headphones, and is not suitable as an input for the speech recognition system.

Was your Bluetooth headset connected at the time the report was generated? Does the headset show up in Windows' lists of sound devices when it is connected?

Was there a VoiceAttackFault.txt file in the installation directory?

Does the crash occur with any profile (E.G. even if you create a new one), or a specific profile?

Before (trying to) create a new profile, you may want to back up your current profile database, and any copies in the "Backup" folder

Both can be found by clicking the "Click here to browse VoiceAttack's data folder." link on the "System / Advanced" tab of the VoiceAttack options window

Do have a look in the "Backup" folder to see how old those backups are. If your profile database has somehow gotten corrupted, one of those backups could be from before the corruption occurred.

Make a backup of those files regardless, but after that you can try deleting your current VoiceAttack.dat file, then renaming one of the backups to "VoiceAttack.dat" and putting that in place of the one you deleted.

If you would like, try zipping up your VoiceAttack.dat file (located in %APPDATA%\VoiceAttack) and send it over to support@voiceattack.com.  I can run it through the debugger and see if I can identify what is hanging it up.

I can't creat new profile, when I click 'creat', it freezes and can't select nothing but error sound.
Then I have to type control+alt+delete then end the Voiceattack.
And... I can't find a backup folder.
Did I do something wrong?

When you click the "Click here to browse VoiceAttack's data folder." link on the "System / Advanced" tab of the VoiceAttack options window, in the folder that's shown there should be a file named "VoiceAttack.dat" (if you don't have file extensions shown, it may just show as "VoiceAttack"), and a folder named "Backup".
Optionally there may also be a file named "VAEffects.dat", but that'll only be present if you've created and saved at least one text-to-speech effect.

What are the contents of the folder you're seeing?

When you mention VoiceAttack crashes when you try to edit a profile, does VoiceAttack close, or does the main window remain visible but stop responding to input?

If the latter is the case, it may be that the window to edit or create a profile is being shown, but is not within the bounds of your display(s).
You can try resetting the positions of all windows by clicking the "Reset Screens" button on the "System / Advanced" tab of the VoiceAttack options window

Oh my goodness.
Finally I solved all the problem.
Now I can use my Samsung Bluetooth again, and No crash anymore after I clicked "reset screen"
Thank you so much for your effort and kindness.
God bless you.

I build a new desktop now and I am setting up.
And there was an issue about the DCS view. Maybe some scripts was contaminated.
After the new update today, now I can play it normally.
At this time I have a problem about VAICOM.
There is some behinds in the backup folder on the DCS root folder, as you know.
I didn't restore it because of the view problem.
But I think, there may be some files about VAICOM like "Speech, UI, etc folders"
I've never seen like that remains after the DCS update.
Please tell me what should I do.
Thank you in advance.

Those folder names you mention would not be created by VoiceAttack itself.
Presumably they were/are created by the third-party VAICOM (PRO) addon, which unfortunately is no longer supported by its developer.

Community support may still be offered (on a voluntary basis) on their Discord, or the VAICOM section of the official DCS forums
