Voice attack will not use added voices

I was using Microsoft Zira but wanted a new voice in DCS
so i followed this post:

and added the australian voice package in settings-> speech
I rebooted and now under the 'voices' drop down are several new ones.

I selected 'Catherine' and indeed the preview sounds Aussie.

Now I start VoiceAttack (latest 64 bit installed)
I clicked on the 'edit profile' button and added a test command with these settings:
When I say:   master arm
Key press: L ctrl + L shft + M
Other->sounds-> say something text to speech: master arm on, sir


I try out my new command and it still sounds like Microsoft Zira.
In fact I cannot change it to anything else now.

As in, there are no other voices listed in the "Voice" dropdown?

VoiceAttack will default to the TTS voice that is set as the system default if a user-specified voice cannot be found.

If you use the "Speech Control Panel" option in the context menu of the "Utilities >" button on the "Recognition" tab of the VoiceAttack options window, then click "Text to Speech" on the left-hand side, is the voice you're trying to use listed in the "Voice selection" dropdown?

It turns out that you can specify the voice in the voice attack setting
Other->sounds->say something text to speech
There is a dropdown but it only allows Microsoft Zara. I then added English uk to Microsoft speech and another voice Helene appeared. But no Australian Catherine. Weird.

Ah, I thought you mentioned the voice worked once, but I'll assume you previewed it in Windows, not VoiceAttack itself.

"Catherine" is a mobile voice, not a SAPI voice, as shown here; VoiceAttack can utilize voices that support the SAPI standard.

The others do not show up. I guess I have to convert the other voices to SAPI?

You can try that, though the "conversion" process is not officially supported by Microsoft, so results may vary
