Appears to be .net related - what logs/dumps/etc., would you like me to get next time it happens (I found that just starting VA then shutting the machine is fine, so there must be some function that's called during the session that causes it...)

The best place to check would be the Windows event viewer:

Press the Windows key
Type, 'Event Viewer'... select and hit enter.

Click on Windows logs, select, 'application'. Sort by date and time descending. Over on the right, click on, 'filter current log' and the select, 'error'. Can't recommend any other filters as I'm not at my computer. I would just search for VoiceAttack-related errors (should be near the top). Thanks for your help!

Hmmm... interesting.

Have you tried a system file scan to see if there are any other problems that may be related?

Press the Windows key, type, 'cmd'. Right click on, 'command prompt' and click, 'run as administrator'.

Type, 'sfc /scannow' and hit enter. See if there are any issues. It's going to run for a bit, but it's good to do that every now and then anyway

Getting the crash as well with both .9 and latest .10, no plugins, but there is a launch profile, that begins doing stuff on start but it doesn't even get to step one, which is voice feedback, something has broken, badly, and wasn't the plugin I am trying to create as I initially thought.

This is another one that I'm just having the hardest time reproducing. I moved some things around to see if it might help or maybe make things a little more clear. I put the updated executable out in the, 'unofficial' bin if you would like to try it out: http://www.voiceattack.com/unofficial

Just copy that file into your VoiceAttack installation folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack).

Also, how frequently does this crash occur? If you *are* using plugins, does the crash occur when you invoke commands that use the plugins?

Hi Gary,

Nope, no plugins, just the vanilla install of VA with the A.S.T.R.A. voicepack that I'm using, and the Midnight voicepack that I haven't configured yet.
The software works fine, it's just on exit that the error occurs and you can't shut it down with using End Task.

Trying the modified exe now - the only thing I've noticed so far is that where I used to say "One hundred percent" etc. that is now blocked by the ((100%)) keybind - nothing that can't be worked around but I didn't know if that was helpful information!

I'll let you know how shutting this exe down works in about an hour when I take a break.

I've not had chance to verify this is consistent, but it feels like the issue happens when I've used "Astra, go to sleep" - regardless of whether I've subsequently woken her up.
Of course, these generally correspond to long sessions, so it could be having the program open for a long time that's the issue instead.

Which version of VA are you using? I've moved some of the shutdown code around to see if I can get a handle on this, so if you are still on v1.5.10, you may want to see if it's still happening in the later stuff: http://www.voiceattack.com/beta

Sorry about that... If I can get this to where I can reproduce the error, I can usually knock it out.

It's happening in 1.5.10 and in the version you linked earlier in the thread.
It's not a biggie, to be honest - it's only on shutdown, actually using the program is fine!

I've established it's not (consistently, at least) use of the "Go to sleep" option, but it does seem to be happening after a lengthy session rather than a short one.
