Never got VA to operate with RealTek

I've got an ASUS ROG Z270F Motherboard with onboard sound.
I have NEVER managed to get Voice Attack to respond in any way to mic input from my headphones.
I'm aware of the unfixed Win 10 Bug that severely limits sound from headphones, waiting for Microsoft to fix that is like waiting for a bus that never comes.

Sound Bar at bottom of VA Panel never moves to indicate any input.

Use the USB Digital Converter that comes with my Audio Technica Headset and everything works fine.
I would just like to free up another USB Port, but if that's impossible....so be it.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried the suggestions in this topic, including checking the "Disable Acoustic Echo Cancellation (could help with recognition)" option?
