Occasionally, you may have to adjust your commands in VoiceAttack to work with certain games or applications. Here are some things you will want to try:

  • You may need to run VoiceAttack as an Administrator to allow interaction.

Windows will block applications in lower security contexts from sending input to applications in higher security contexts.  This is actually a good thing, as it suppresses rogue apps from taking over your computer.

To run VoiceAttack in Administrator mode, do the following:
    • Click the wrench icon on VoiceAttack's main window
    • Navigate to the "System / Advanced" tab of the VoiceAttack options window
    • Enable the "Run VoiceAttack as an Administrator" option
    • Click, 'OK'
    • Restart VoiceAttack to run it as administrator

Something to consider - If you are needing to run VoiceAttack as an administrator to be able to access a game or application, you might want to review why you would need to run the target app or game in a higher security context to begin with, as it may not be necessary (and/or it could have been a mistake).  Just throwing that out there ;)

  • Another common issue is that VoiceAttack is sending key presses too quickly to your game.

If a game is polling for input at a specific time, and VoiceAttack's key press does not coincide with that polling, the game will simply not catch it.  To fix this, you need to increase the amount of time a key is held down before releasing.  A good place to start is 0.10 seconds.  Try increasing and decreasing this number to see what works best.

  • One last thing to check is to make sure VoiceAttack is sending its input to the right place by verifying that your commands are being sent to the proper window.  You can check this information and change the target window by dropping down the list titled, 'Send commands to' on VoiceAttack's main screen.  Try sending your commands to the, 'Active Window' first and then try sending commands to your specific window.
