Voice attack not receiving any input from mic while it works anywhere else?

As the title says my Voice attack won't receive any input from my microphone through the Microsoft speech recognition software.
Whenever I set the speech recognition up in windows it detects my microphone fine and all the things I say. But whenever I start up voice attack it doesn't work at all.
I had a friend install it on his pc right next to me and it worked without any issues, We're running the same OS and voice attack version. Only thing that differs is the PC hardware and the microphones we're using.
My PC has newer components and is more powerful so I'm sure it won't have any impact on it.

So I'm now resorting to you guys to help me with this issue. I'd love to get it to work before I buy it and such.
