Hello, I did post once before about this issue but it could not be resolved because we could not associate what was causing the issue. I have now done further testing and found what is causing the error, firstly I will post the error message that I receive I don't know if this will help. Then I will explain what I believe is causing the issue and see if you guys can help.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Okay let's start with a short back story, firstly I don't just use voice attack for playing games I am visually impaired and I use voice attack to run commands on my computer that make it much easier for me to operate my system and to do daily tasks etc. now I hope to explain this isn't short a detail as I can. I also use a magnifying program on my computer which magnifies the screen and also reads out text aloud. The magnifying software that I use is very expensive and I cannot use a computer without it.

The program I am using is called Zoomtext magnifier reader, and after starting voice attack with out Zoom text running I never got any errors or crashes with voice attack. But as soon as I ran Zoomtext again I got the same errors happening immediately. I don't know if you guys are actually interested in helping, as I am sure this is way out of the norm. There is a free trial of the magnifier program that works in 40 minute increments I will put the link below for if you would like to do some testing with voice attack, I would really appreciate your help with this as voice attack is very useful for me to use with my vision impairment. TIA

It appears that application injects itself into other running applications, as the final assembly listed as being loaded into VoiceAttack belongs to it:
Code: [Select]
Aisquared.Infuser.WPFInstiller
    Assembly Version: 14.3.8.0
    Win32 Version: 14.3.8.0
    CodeBase: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Freedom%20Scientific/ZoomText/2020/x86/Aisquared.Infuser.WPFInstiller.dll

Does the crash still occur when you have ZoomText running, but disabled (the Quick Reference Guide lists Alt + Delete as the hotkey for disable, Alt + Insert to enable)?

Thanks Pfeil for the quick response, I did as you suggested and disabled Zoom text. I then ran voice attack no issues, I used to get the error when I tried editing a profile or sometimes just running commence, but after disabling Zoom text this did not happen. I then re-enabled Zoom text and still could not get the program to error, I tried all the things that normally give me the error messages but it would not happen. But then after a restart of my system problem start again.

So what do you suggest I should do for example should I start one program before the other or simply have Zoom text running disable it start voice attack and use it that way. I am more than happy to use it this way if it resolves this problem. Thanks again for your help.

If there is a specific sequence that works well, you'll want to stick with that (E.G. having ZoomText running but disabled, then starting VoiceAttack and re-enabling ZoomText).

Though, one more thing you could try is to disable individual features of ZoomText to see if it's something specific within the application that's affecting VoiceAttack.

E.G. you could try adding an exclusion for the "xFont" feature (in the "Smoothing" tab of the ZoomText "Preferences" window).

Thanks Pfeil, your help is much appreciated, I am currently testing with the X font exclusion and it all seems to be working okay right now, I won't get too excited however as it could come back. But fingers crossed this is what the issue was, again really appreciate your help this app makes my life way easier.

Cheers

Hi guys, after using voice attack for a few hours today with no errors after putting the exclusion in to Zoom text for the X font smoothing, I think we can mark this is resolved. Not sure if there too many vision impaired people using voice attack but hopefully if somebody has a similar issue, they may find this post and may resolve the issue, I know how frustrating it was. Thanks againPfeil help was really appreciated.

Assuming it remains stable, that's excellent news.

That "xFont" option appeared to be the only one that has such an exclusion option, which is included as the manufacturer states it can cause corrupt or missing text, but apparently whatever technique they're using to modify running applications can cause other issues as well.
