va 1.7.3 crashes with eddi 3.1.0 as plugin
« on: November 27, 2018, 05:31:33 AM »
hi together,

i can see no error, except in the windows event viewer:

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VoiceAttack\VoiceAttack.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NextUp-Ivona\ivona-sapi\platforms\i686-pc-win32\voice_en_us_salli.dll

no matter if i change the tts voice to windows standard. it still crashes.
crash occurs as soon as eddi should say something.
va tts works fine, but eddi tts crashes va.
it all startet after the 1.7.3 va update.
va started crashing and i found out that everytime i make a new va command like: "say "test 1 2 3"" - the first time the command should have run, it always crashed va. if i made the command above, exited va and started it up again it did not crash.
until day x (which was 26.11.2018) va did start crashing as soon as eddi should have said something.
really strange.
i did delete eddi completely and redownloaded it and used default settings. no help.

any help would be appreciated.

kind regards,
haro

There was a TTS issue with EDDI before, but that particular one was apparently remedied with update 3.1.0-b2, which will likely have been included with the final 3.1 version.

Have you tried setting VoiceAttack to use a single TTS instance as well?

Click , click the "System / Advanced" tab, check the "Single TTS Instance" option, click OK to save.

hi pfeil,

thanks for the reply.

i did follow this thread, which included setting va to use a single tts instance.
https://forum.voiceattack.com/smf/index.php?topic=2234.0

is there any way to go back to 1.7.2 (i have the steam version of va), just to check if the error still persists?

kind regards,
haro

There is a rollback download available of v1.7.2 linked in the latest release topic.

awesome! thanks alot.

I will try that at home and come back to report. :-)

ok, i did try some things, like uninstalling va and eddi, using va. 1.7.2,
and ended up with saying that this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\NextUp-Ivona\ivona-sapi\platforms\i686-pc-win32\voice_en_us_salli.dll
must be damaged or outdated or whatever.
if i use va. 1.7.3 and eddi 3.1.0 with any tts voice except salli, it works.
at least the 1 hour i played yesterday.

ill play some more today and will let you know if anything changes.
