Microphone works in windows but not in VA

VA been working fine BUT suddenly, the microphone in my O Rift isnt being picked up anymore.  It works fine when I check it in windows/settings/sound.  You can see its being heard by the moving volume bar.  When I open VA though.......  ZILCH.  Microphone not registering. The sound is but not the mic. If I fire up my Corsair Headset in VA..bingo, mic works but NOT when I use the Rift....  Bugger.  Any help would be appreciated.

Is the rift microphone set as the default recording device when this occurs?

I was just hit by this today as well.

Seems that the input for Microsoft speech services was not hearing it.

Had to go Control Panel > Ease of Access > Speech Recognition > Advanced Speech Options

Tehn on Speech Recognition tab, at bottom, set the mic it is listening on, and then hit OK

Note: this was on Windows 10
