Voice attack will not load
« on: May 31, 2016, 12:02:11 AM »
So I created some elaborate profile.  I had just finished up editting a command and when I clicked done, voice attack froze.  I waited quite some time but eventually I had to restart the process.  Now when I try and restart voice attack nothing happens.  When I check my processes I see that voice attack starts briefly but then the service quietly disappears from the process list.

Any help?  This is quite a complex profile I am working on, I'd prefer not to lose the work.

VoiceAttack stores everything in a database called "VoiceAttack.dat", which is located at "%appdata%/VoiceAttack/".

There's a backup folder in there that holds older copies of the file. Whether your latest edit is in there depends on whether it crashed before saving the file or not.

I'd suggest you don't remove anything, instead you can rename or move them to another folder. Just in case Gary has a way to repair a broken database.

THanks I'll take a look when I'm home.

Curious, I have been setting up some elaborate voice attack commands with tons of optional parameters to make the speech as natural as possible and to account for mis-statements.  For instance I have a prefix/suffix combo that looks like this:

prefix: [select; target; lock on; lock; view] [first;left;] [wing;wing's] [member; member's; ship; ship's; mate; mates; teammate; teammate's; commander; commander's; vessel; vessel's;]

suffix: [and;] [select; target; lock on; lock; view] [wing's; their; member's;ship's;mates; teammate's; commander's; vessel's] target; target

These to me don't look too complicated but these were approximately the commands I was editting when the system crashed.  Are these statements too complex?  I have two other prefixes for this suffix that change first;last to second;middle and third;right.

I believe this was handled through the support inbox.  VA is loading, however there was about 46k commands that were causing VA to be delayed.  The latest beta (hopefully) fixes this.
