Have you trained the speech engine? Does the gray bar at the bottom of VoiceAttack's main window move when you speak?

If you need help setting up your recording device, this may be of use.

Try these instructions. Does the training hear you?

If it does, but VoiceAttack doesn't, Alienware or one of the hardware manufacturers for your laptop may include software with its drivers that interferes with microphone usage by applications; Did VoiceAttack pop up any warning about this?
You could try closing any software that offers microphone distortion effects. Perhaps there's an Alienware version of Sonic Studio with a different .exe?

Glad to hear you solved it :D

"Alienware Sound Center" appears to be a variant/rebrand of "Nahimic", which was already known to cause issues.

The offending executable should be named "AWSoundCenterUiLauncher.exe". I'll let Gary know so it can be added to the automatic detection and warning system.
