Transfer Voice Attack to new PC
« on: April 28, 2017, 09:04:38 AM »
My computer motherboard broke and I am rebuilding with a new motherboard.

I will be reinstalling Windows 10 and therefore I will need to reinstall Voice Attack.

Now I can reinstall Voice Attack, reinstall the HCS Voice Packs, and then retrain Windows Speech recognition.  I want to avoid wasting all this time, especially because I have Voice Attack working with Elite Dangerous perfectly.  the upside on this, is that I could get the latest updates of Voice Attack and HCS Voice Packs installed.

I believe there are 3 parts that I need to transfer to my new pc.
A Voice Attack
B Voice Packs
C Windows Speech Training

Does anyone have a step by step guide for how to do this?

The best I could find online is the following:
Copy and transfer:
1)  C/program files(x86)/voice attack
2)  C/users/NAME/app data/roaming/voice attack
3)  c/users/NAME/app data/roaming/microsoft/speech

Will this work?

This is the only hardware or software issue that I am facing in re-building my PC with fresh install of windows 10.

Appreciate any help and advice,

You also need the files inside the "%LOCALAPPDATA%\VoiceAttack.com" folder(Which translates to "C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\VoiceAttack.com"), as those contain your license.
Without that you'll only have a trial(though you can reactivate of course), and a number of settings would be set to default).

For VoiceAttack itself, you should be fine copying the files over, however I can't speak for the voice pack(s) or the speech recognition engine data.
