Triggering joystick buttons with voice commands?

I'm sure this has been asked or brought up by someone before, but for the life of me I can't find a way to search forum posts...?
In any case, I realize this isn't something that would probably be done a lot, but in some situations, I'd like to be able to have my voice commands execute joystick button presses rather than keyboard presses. It seems like this would be an easy enough to include feature, but I haven't been able to find where, how or if it can be done. Any help much appreciated!

VoiceAttack can control a virtual joystick using a plugin.

Simulating button presses on an existing joystick device is not supported by the APIs (DirectInput, XInput) used for those devices. That is not VoiceAttack-specific.
