Voice Attack stopped working!
« on: November 11, 2022, 01:11:36 PM »
Was fine yesterday. Logged off after using it during the evening and today not recognising any voice input. The microphone is fine. Works in other apps. It is on, both on the microphone itself and in the app. The microphone icon top right is red, which suggests the mic is muted, but it is not. The bar bottom left which normally moves across when you speak is not showing. The settings haven't changed. It shows the correct microphone in settings. Mic is USB. have changed ports- no difference. Any ideas?

Click the wrench icon on VoiceAttack's main window, and on the "General" tab of the VoiceAttack options window click "System info >", choose "Generate Settings Summary", then "Write to File"; Save the file and upload it here.

The microphone configured for the speech recognition engine is currently "Microphone (Voicemod Virtual Audio Device (WDM))", rather than your physical microphone (which is the Windows default recording device), is that intended?

If not, you can change that using the "Windows Speech Recording Device" option on the "Recognition" tab of the VoiceAttack options window (normally it is set to the "Default - "-prefixed device, so that the speech recognition system will use the Windows default multimedia recording device)

If effects are applied to the input for the speech recognition engine, that would almost certainly negatively impact recognition accuracy, so you may want to consider using your physical device directly, regardless.

Should you make that change, and the training for your speech recognition profile was performed using that virtual device, you may want to create and train a new speech recognition profile, the instructions for which can be derived from this topic.

Great. Thanks for your help. That seems to have worked.
