Initial Profile Freezes Voice Attack
« on: November 07, 2019, 03:50:08 PM »
My initial profile creates too many speech combinations and freezes Voice Attack every time I start it. Are there any possibilities to change my initial profile without having to open Voice Attack itself? I have not found any configuration file to do that manually.

You can try holding down CTRL + Shift when you launch VA - this will open the, 'Load Options' screen.  Check the box to disable speech facilities (first option) and click OK.  That will open VA without loading the speech engine up - you should be able to edit  your profile and fix the offending commands from there.

Hope that helps!

Yes, that helps. You just saved my life!

What I wanted to achieve is to simply use dynamic variables in my speech commands, but even small variable ranges made my VA freeze. I need to find a better way than using "[for;] [0..999] miles at [0..99] thousand feet" as a voice command.  :P

That combination produces about 200000 combinations:
[for;] = 2
[0..999] = 1000
[0..99] = 100
2x1000x100 = 200000
...and that's a lot of combinations for the speech engine to track ;)
