VA "Corrupted" Not Working Properly
« on: August 06, 2018, 08:05:44 PM »
I purchased VA on 7-20-2018, have Reg. Key
It worked fine for about a week. I use it to play Guild Wars2, on a Win 10 64 bit, high end system. I run VA as Administrator.

I had a message saying VC was corrupted. I uninstalled it, then reinstalled, but it's still buggy. I didn't re download from your site as I wasn't sure what steps to take for a previously purchased VA.

My in game sound will cut off occasionally when VA is active. VA will shut down unexpectedly when playing from time to time. I know this because there is no command response. I hit the Windows key plus "D" and go to desktop and see that it's not running. When  it does run, it seems to recognize commands correctly. I trained it 3 or 4 times.

Thanks

Gary

You are able to download VA for as long as you want.  However, it sounds like there's more than just VA amiss on your system.  VA touches a fair number of sensitive pc components that, when not set up right, will be very evident when VA accesses them.  I would, of course, download the latest full release of VA:  http://www.voiceattack.com/download as that's an easy check.

Something to look for is the VoiceAttackFault.txt file that would exist in your VA installation folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack).  If you have that file, could you post it here or send to support@voiceattack.com?  That way it can be looked at to see if anything has been caught by VA that would be making it crash.

Then, I would suggest making sure all your audio drivers are up to date (and joystick drivers if you are using your joystick as a controller).  I'd take a look at this thread, as it's helped a lot of mysterious system issues that deal with speech engine components (ignore the title): http://voiceattack.com/SMF/index.php?topic=64.0
I'd run a system scan to see if anything can be detected, too (doesn't hurt to do this from time to time):  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system
And a chkdsk is usually not a bad idea:  https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/fix-hard-drives-chkdsk-windows-10/

I know VA works fine with Guild Wars, and has for some time, so it's probably not that combo (well, normally).
