Crackle at the end of soudn file
« on: July 16, 2018, 05:46:09 PM »
Did a fresh reinstall of Windows, and have VA working, but each time I execute a command there is a crackle at the end of the sound file being played.

The sound files are not playing a crackle when played in my media player. Not sure what the problem is.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

You may want to try installing an updated codec and/or look at your sound drivers.  Media players have a tendency to ramp volume at the ends of files, and VoiceAttack does not.

Even though this crackle only happens through VoiceAttack and nothing else?

I reinstalled the drivers. Still having the crackle.

What codec would you suggest? k-lite codec pack? I have that installed.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

So I found a newer version of my audio driver which updated the codec, and the problem is still happening.

I am not clear how it is not VoiceAttack causing this to happen if it only happens when played through VoiceAttack.

Are there no other settings that might affect this?

So, VoiceAttack was working fine before you updated Windows?

It was crashing regularly before. I isolated the problem (it wasn't VoiceAttack), but long story short, while it ran it was not making the crackle sound.

However that said, I changed "Audio Output Type" to Integrated Components and the crackling is less frequent and not nearly as noticeable. It was a little jarring before, but this is fine now, I don't notice it with the sounds of the game.
