Muting mic

Hello! I got VA today with an Elite Dangerous Archer Voice Pack and I have an issue where the microphone decides to mute itself whenever it wants

Here is a screenshot if that will help.

Hi, there.

Thanks for the screen shot.  If the red mic shows up, that means that the underlying speech engine that VA relies on is saying that your mic is not emitting any kind of signal.  You are going to have to look at your hardware and/or drivers to see what is up with them.

Here is a thread you might want to look at:  http://voiceattack.com/SMF/index.php?topic=63.0

What type of mic are you using?  I get complaints sometimes about bluetooth headsets/mics dropping out or misbehaving, only to be corrected by updating the drivers.

I know Razer headsets are affected by this issue:  http://voiceattack.com/SMF/index.php?topic=152.0
However, that one will flat-out prevent your audio from getting through (wouldn't hurt to set it, however).

If you can't get it working with a driver update, and it doesn't seem to be a wiring issue, and you don't have some other type of software that is muting the input channel, you may need to try another headset.  It's a passive monitor that just checks the state of the speech engine.  If the speech engine says, 'Hey, the volume is muted on the input channel', VoiceAttack displays that icon.
