VA say not working (somewhat)

This is kinda odd...

Say, "Hello Human"

works great, but

Press S key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release
Say, "Slowing"

does not. The S key is passed, but nothing is said.
I have VA and EDDI installed for ED. All setup as administrator, and VA running in Windows 7 mode (I'm using 10). Any ideas?

If you add a keypress action before the working TTS action, does the TTS action stop working?
