mouse action screen
« on: April 02, 2017, 07:18:05 AM »
Hi
I have just read the VA manual but am not sure how to bring up the mouse action screen.  I have created a profile of key commands for vrsimulations in FSX but some cockpit buttons require mouse click to activate. If I am not mistaken, I have to position the mouse pointer over the applicable button and then press Alt + F3, which is the VA mouse default key setting  I was expecting to see the mouse action screen appear but I am obviously missing some steps. I found an old post about screen x,y coordinates but no reply was given, so I am a bit stumped.  I would appreciate some help here.

In the "Add a Command"/"Edit a Command" window, click the "Mouse >" button and click "Move" in the flyout menu(alternatively, right-click on the action list and click "Add Mouse Action" in the context menu).

In the "Move" tab of the now-open "Add a Mouse Action" window, click the "Set Position" button.

The "Capture Mouse Location" window will open, and when you press Left Alt+F3 it will display the cursor coordinates as they were when the key combination was pressed.

Click "OK" to send the coordinates to the "Add a Mouse Action" window(the "Capture Mouse Location window will now close), then click "OK" to confirm the action and add it to the action list.

Thanks Pfeil
I got it to work on a cockpit button when running FSX standalone , just to get the hang of it. Because I normally use oculus rift with FSX , I then set up the button x,y coordinates when viewed thru the rift. When I gave the correct voice command , I could see that the mouse arrow was not exactly over the button even if I was looking directly at it, and therefore the mouse click could not activate it. For the button to activate , I would have to have my head in the exact same position every time I said the command, which of course is impossible.  I'm sure someone has figured out a fix . I will put a post in vrsimulations forum and flyinside forum to look for other voice attack users.

Unless you use some type of view manager that fixes the location of the camera relative to the cockpit, clicking things is indeed unreliable.

Some people use SPAD.neXt, which can set values directly within the sim if the aircraft supports it.
