Voice Attack not recognizing speech
« on: September 29, 2023, 03:48:03 PM »
Hello, I turned on voice attack in the morning, but it didn't recognize my speech nor it detected anything I said, like "hello" nothing. If I changed the profiles it would say that it changes the profile, but that's it nothing will appear on the notification's page. Help LOL it didn't do this yesterday and it has never happened before, here is the settings summary. Thanks

The microphone in use by the speech recognition system is not the one configured as the Windows default recording device.

Under normal circumstances, you'd want to make sure the "Windows Speech Recording Device" option on the "Recognition" tab of the VoiceAttack options window (which is a shortcut to a Windows option; not a VoiceAttack-specific option) is set to the "Default - "-prefixed device, so that it uses whichever device is configured as the Windows default multimedia recording device.

Alright I changed that, however it still doesn't recognize anything I say. Any advice Willem Dafoe? Thanks

Okay Nevermind I fixed it, turns out my input microphone was not selected for some reason. Any thoughts on why this might happen? Thanks and Thank you Willem Dafoe LOL

Not sure what you mean by "my input microphone was not selected", but the Windows default multimedia recording device can change when a device is unplugged, or a new device is plugged in, which can also happen when drivers are updated.

This is also true of the Microsoft speech recognition system when the "Windows Speech Recording Device" option (or the underlying option in Windows itself) is not set to the "Default - "-prefixed option, as the engine will switch to another device (and not necessarily switch back) if the device it's configured to use explicitly is no longer available.
